The Principal woodwind players of the Philadelphia Orchestra have set the highest standards for the world during the last 75 years. Richard Woodhams, Donald Montanaro and Bernard Garfield, through their teaching at the Curtis Institute of Music and performing over 200 concerts per year with the Philadelphia Orchestra, are responsible for teaching and furnishing constant musical performances in the Philadelphia Orchestra tradition which has become "the American Woodwind School."
