S Blake Duncan
S. Blake Duncan is currently serving as an adjunct faculty member at Bradley University where he teaches double reeds, music technology and music appreciation. Additionally he serves as oboe instructor and chair of the woodwind faculty with the Lutheran Summer Music Program. He holds the Solo English horn chairs of the Illinois Symphony, the Peoria Symphony Orchestras and the Cedar Rapids (IA) Symphony and performs with the Prairie Ensemble Chamber Orchestra as principal oboe. His extensive orchestral experience includes English horn appointments with orchestras as diverse as the Caracas (Venezuela) Philharmonic, the Mansfield and Akron (OH) Symphonies and Principal Oboe with the Binghamton Symphony. Tri-Cities Opera and the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra. He has studied with some of the nation’s leading oboists / English hornists including Laurence Thorstenberg, Bert Lucarelli, John Mack, and Felix Kraus. He has served on the faculties of Binghamton University, the Cape Cod Conservatory, and continues to teach privately. He is currently the organists / choirmaster at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Bloomington. Additionally, his interests and experience span a broad spectrum from synthesis and MIDI technology to church music and early music.
