Joseph Silverstein
Joseph Silverstein was the concertmaster of the Boston Symphony Orchestra from 1962 to 1984 having earlier been a prize winner of the silver medal in the Queen Elizabeth of Belgium Competition and the Naumburg Award. A founding member of the BSO Chamber Players, he was chairman of the faculty at the Berkshire Music Center, taught at Boston University, was Assistant Conductor of the BSO, and appeared as soloist with orchestras around the world. Mr. Silverstein has been the Music Director of the Utah Symphony and musical advisor to many American orchestras.
