Charlotte Mattax is Associate Professor of Harpsichord and Musicology at the University of Illinois. Previously on the faculty of Rutgers University, her research focuses on 17th Century French harpsichord music. She is the author of the book, Accompaniment on Theorbo and Harpsichord: Denis Delair’s Traité of 1690, a Translation with Commentary. The recipient of several important awards and prizes, she was honored with a Solo Recitalist Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, a Woolley Scholarship for study in Paris, and First and Third prizes from the International Harpsichord Competitions of Paris and Bruges. Holding degrees from Yale University, the Juilliard School, and Stanford University, Ms. Mattax maintains an active performing and recording career as a harpsichordist in this country and abroad. Her most recent compact disc featured the keyboard sonatas of Wilhelm Friedemann Bach.
